On The Edge Of Midnight
I have been watching
the crumbling of this place
Although the streets are filled with souls
between is just empty space
Those that stood together
have left behind just a trace
of the power that unity
can give to us in this race
Everywhere around me
I see suffering and disgrace
Bonds unwoven, hearts are broken
in the corridors of this maze
The preacher man will tell you
that he’s acting with God’s good grace
But he’s never seen God’s creation
only spectres in the haze
On the edge of midnight, silently we wait
for the great decider to parcel out our fate
Will the great unwinder finally have its day?
or will we rise together, stand and block its way?
There is great potential
in the challenge that we face
But there is so much happening
that it is hard to keep the pace
For so many centuries
there was time enough to wait
But that time is lost now
we must act before it’s too late
Arrogance and ignorance?
Or elegance and salience?
Blind acceptance is no way
to solve the problems we face today
All the lies that we are told
can be undone if we are bold
The truth is sometimes hard to see
We are love and light and we are free
Don’t believe what they tell you on TV
Don’t accept their theories of a doomed reality
Don’t put your faith in anyone, especially not me
Keep your faith for yourself, in this is sanity
But do not take this to mean
that you should not trust
But trust should be intelligent
not based on need or lust
Politicians talk
without saying anything
But everyone is blinded
by the assurances that they bring
On the edge of midnight, silently we wait
for the great decider to parcel out our fate
Will the great unwinder finally have its day?
or will we rise together, stand and block its way?
Arrogance and ignorance?
or elegance and salience?
Blind acceptance is no way
to solve the problems we face today
All the lies that we are told
can be undone if we are bold
The truth is sometimes hard to see
We are love and light and we are free
